William Frizzell

Aug 20, 2020 | News

Gone, but not forgotten. All at Brewster Bros were very sorry to hear of the passing of long-serving employee, William Frizzell also known as Wullie, on Friday 14th August 2020 at 73 years of age, following a short illness.

Originally a Borders man, Wullie settled in East Calder and started as a tipper driver with Henry Gillies (Contractors) Ltd (previous company name) 21 years ago. After six months of employment, he swiftly changed roles to become a plant operator at Drumshoreland Bing, where he remained until his last working day. Over the years Wullie saw the bing transform from a vast heap of spent oil shale (blaes) to the state-of-the-art recycling facility that it is today. Wullie was a valued member of the team and loved teaching his younger colleagues a thing or two about tipper-loading!

Wullie is survived by wife Nancy, five children John (also a loyal, long-serving employee), Kevin, Linda, Bryan and Karen, his twenty grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Our thoughts are with them all during this difficult time.
